SIXERS TO HONOR PHILADELPHIA FIRE COMMISSIONER LLOYD AYERS FOR 38 YEARS OF SERVICE
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – MARCH 13, 2014 – The Philadelphia 76ers today announced that they will honor the brave service of Philadelphia-area first responders when they host the Memphis Grizzlies this Saturday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. for “First Responders Night,” presented by GovX, the leading website and e-commerce network devoted to serving verified U.S. Armed Forces personnel (active, guard, reserve, veteran and retired) and government first responders.
Free tickets have been given to 750 local first responders for the game, courtesy of GovX. Discounted tickets are also available to first responders and their families online at www.nba.com/sixers/sixersgroups-govx, where they will be asked to verify their government or military status and can purchase tickets at a discounted price.
“First Responders Night is another valuable piece of our partnership with GovX in jointly recognizing those who protect and defend us, both at home and abroad,” said Sixers Chief Revenue Officer Chris Heck. “The hard work and dedication of our police, fire and emergency personnel is worth our thanks every day, and we look forward to honoring them during Saturday’s game.”
During the game, the Sixers and GovX will honor Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers’ 38 years of service to the community with a special on-court presentation. They will also recognize the Police Officer, EMS, Firefighter and Paramedic of the Year, and will ask all first responders to stand and receive thanks from the fans.
“As a nation that conveys outspoken gratitude for those who protect our freedom from threats beyond our borders, we also honor those who protect our freedom from within our borders and in our towns and communities every day; we sincerely thank our law enforcement, firefighters, emergency rescue and government first responders, all of whom at great personal risk serve and protect us. GovX joins the Philadelphia 76ers, whose very name recognizes our nation’s and this city’s legacy of freedom, in honoring these brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our safety and welfare,” said Executive Chairman & Founder of GovX Tony Farwell.
Through the Philadelphia 76ers’ partnership with GovX, those who serve and protect local communities – including police, fire, EMS and related federal, state and local government employees – along with active, guard, reserve, veteran and retired U.S. Military personnel and their families are able to purchase specially priced tickets to all Sixers home games.
