Game Preview: Pacers (40-12) vs Hawks (25-26)

Matchup

The All-Star break is over, and the Pacers return to the court for the first time in six days on Tuesday night, when the Pacers (40-12) and Atlanta Hawks (25-26) will meet for the third time this season, and the first time at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The two teams split a pair of meetings in Atlanta, with the Hawks prevailing 97-87 on Jan. 8, and the Pacers coming away with an 89-85 victory on Feb. 2.

Both teams will be looking to start the second half strong. The Pacers dropped two of their last three games before the break, falling in Orlando and losing at home to Dallas. Meanwhile, the Hawks lost their last five games (starting with their loss to the Pacers on Feb. 2) to fall below .500 for the first time since Dec. 2.

First-time All-Star Paul Millsap leads Atlanta with 17.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Pike High School graduate Jeff Teague contributes 15.6 points and 7.2 assists, while sharpshooter Kyle Korver adds 11.8 points and knocks down 46 percent of his 3-point attempts.

  • Hawks backup guard Shelvin Mack played three seasons at Butler from 2008-2011, starting for the Bulldogs on both teams that reached the national title game.

Last Meeting

February 4, 2014 - The Pacers snapped a 12-game losing streak to the Hawks in Atlanta with an 89-85 victory. David West led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Paul George added 18 points and seven boards, while Lance Stephenson chipped in 10 points before leaving the game in the third quarter with a bruised lower back.

Mike Scott led Atlanta with 15 points, while Elton Brand added 12 points and seven rebounds. No Hawks starter scored in double figures.
