Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer (left knee surgery) will be a gametime decision for tonight’s game vs. Atlanta. Boozer originally injured the leg on November 19 vs. Milwaukee and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on January 9.

Should Boozer play, tonight’s game would mark the first time this season that all 15 Jazz players were available, and the first time the trio of Boozer, Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur appeared in a game together this season. The Jazz went 49-22 in games in which the trio played last season.

Utah Jazz guard C.J. Miles suffered a right ankle injury when he came down on James Posey’s foot after making a 17-foot jump shot with 1:17 remaining in the third quarter of last night’s win over the New Orleans Hornets. X-rays taken last night were negative and Miles did not return to the game.

Miles was re-evaluated today and has a moderate right ankle sprain with minimal swelling. He is doubtful for Saturday night’s game when the Jazz hosts the Detroit Pistons at 7 p.m. at EnergySolutions Arena. He will be re-examined again prior to Monday’s game vs. Indiana at which point his status for that game will be determined and a further update provided.

Miles has appeared in all 36 Jazz games (all starts), averaging 9.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. He is the only Jazzman to play in every game this season.

During halftime of tonight’s loss at the Suns, Utah Jazz guard Brevin Knight was taken by ambulance to a Phoenix-area hospital in order to have testing administered on his throat area, which he had injured in a collision with the Suns’ Goran Dragic in the final seconds of the first quarter. Following the collision with Dragic, Knight finished the first quarter and played the first 3:28 of the second quarter before leaving the game.

A CT scan taken at the hospital showed Knight had no tears in the throat region, but did reveal significant swelling. Due to the swelling, it was recommended that he not fly back with the team to Salt Lake City following the game. Knight will remain hospitalized overnight for observation and will be re-examined in the morning. He is expected to be able to return to Salt Lake City on Sunday.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests conducted on Boozer’s left leg earlier today, confirmed that Boozer suffered a strain of the left quadriceps tendon
.

Boozer will travel with the team, but is doubtful to play on the Jazz’s two-game road trip to San Antonio (11/21) and Memphis (11/22).

In addition, center Jarron Collins (inflamed right elbow) is out for Friday night’s game at San Antonio, while Brevin Knight (strained left abductor muscle), Kyle Korver (inflamed right wrist) and Deron Williams (left ankle inversion sprain) will each be gametime decisions.

Matt Harpring (right ankle rehabilitation) and Mehmet Okur (lower back strain) are expected to play.

Utah Jazz guard Deron Williams (left ankle inversion sprain) and forward Matt Harpring (right ankle rehab) will not play in tomorrow night’s regular season opener vs. Denver. Harpring did not see action in the preseason while Williams suffered the ankle injury at Chicago on October 18 and did not play in the Jazz’s preseason finale vs. Portland on October 23. Williams is doubtful for Saturday’s game vs. the L.A. Clippers.

Jarron Collins (severe right triceps tendinitis) will be available for tomorrow night vs. Denver.

The following is a medical update on Utah Jazz guard Deron Williams, who injured his left ankle at the 5:39 mark of the first quarter of Saturday night’s preseason game at Chicago.

As a result of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) testing conducted on Williams’ ankle earlier today, Jazz team physician Dr. Lyle Mason has determined that Williams suffered a second degree inversion sprain. The MRI also showed all bone structure and tendons in and around the ankle to be normal.

The time frame for Williams’ return to action is a minimum of two weeks.

Utah Jazz guard Deron Williams suffered a left ankle inversion sprain at the 5:39 mark of the first quarter of tonight's 88-80 win at Chicago. The injury occurred when Williams landed on the foot of Bulls guard Derrick Rose as Williams was attempting a three-pointer. X-rays on the ankle were negative and he did not return to the game.

In addition, forward Matt Harpring (right ankle rehab) was not with the team, while guard Brevin Knight (inflamed left thumb) and center Jarron Collins (right triceps tendinitis) did not dress.

The next Jazz preseason game is Thursday, October 23 when the Jazz host the Portland Trail Blazers in the team’s preseason finale. The Jazz open the regular season on October 29 vs. the Denver Nuggets.
