Mountain America Credit Union to Present $31,150 Donation to Huntsman Cancer Foundation
SALT LAKE CITY (April 11, 2014) – For the fifth consecutive season, the Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union partnered with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation to help fight cancer. Each time a Jazz player made a three-point shot during the 2013-14 season, Mountain America donated $50 to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Through this collaborative effort, Mountain America will present $26,150 to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation during halftime of the Jazz home game against Portland on April 11.
Mountain America Credit Union President and CEO Sterling Nielsen will be on hand to present the check to Huntsman Cancer Foundation Executive Vice President Paul Huntsman. Mountain America will also donate an additional $5,000 to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation as part of the ‘Pass It Along’ program, bringing the total amount donated that evening to $31,150.
“We are very appreciative of this generous donation from Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz,” said David Huntsman, president of Huntsman Cancer Foundation. “We all have even more reason to cheer for those three-pointers since each one means a $50 donation to cancer research.”
A longtime supporter of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, Mountain America has donated more than $100,000 to the non-profit organization over the past 10 years. The Utah Jazz and Mountain America enjoy a shared commitment to community outreach and team up on a variety of programs each season in an effort to give back to Utah youth and families.
Huntsman Cancer Institute was founded in 1995 with a $125 million gift from the Jon M. Huntsman family. The Jon M. Huntsman family has donated approximately $400 million since the commencement of the Institute in 1995. The family and Huntsman Cancer Foundation have raised an additional $1 billion, for a total philanthropic investment in Huntsman Cancer Institute of $1.4 billion thus far. More than 120,000 individuals, foundations and corporations have supported the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
