MIAMI, June 28 – The Miami HEAT announced today they have selected forward Wayne Simien with the 29th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.

The Miami HEAT came within seven minutes of reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in the franchise’s 17 seasons this June, drawing a record number of fans and playing a beautiful brand of basketball that sent scoreboards spinning and opponents reeling.

MIAMI, May 24 – The National Basketball Association (NBA) returns to Puerto Rico on October 14 with a marquee match-up between the Miami HEAT and the Memphis Grizzlies in San Juan, it was announced today by the NBA. Both teams are expected to travel with their full preseason rosters, bringing to the island stars such as Miami HEAT All-Stars Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade and Memphis Grizzlies star forward Pau Gasol. The on-sale date for the event to take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Mario Agrelot will be announced at a later date.

HEAT Television Broadcasts Available in Spanish
MIAMI, April 26 – Starting with Game Two of the First Round series against the New Jersey Nets, all HEAT playoff games broadcast on Sun Sports will be available in Spanish, via the SAP (Secondary Audio Programming) function on the viewer’s television set. José Pañeda, the Spanish voice of the HEAT, and Joe Pujala will call the action. The game can also be heard on radio on WAQI 710 AM in Spanish and 610 WIOD in English. HEAT announcers Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino will call the game in English on Sun Sports, with Jason Jackson reporting from the sideline.
MIAMI, April 25 – The Miami HEAT was named the 2004-05 winner of the Florida Education Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award for its HEAT Academy free, after-school program. The HEAT is one of only three organizations to receive this award in Miami-Dade County, and this selection marks the second time the HEAT has received this award for its HEAT Academy program.

MIAMI, Feb. 14 – The Miami HEAT Wheels, a team of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and sponsored by the Miami HEAT, the Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department and the Leisure Access Foundation, have earned the No. 2 seed in the 7th NWBA Division III National Tournament in Bloomington, Illinois. MIAMI, Oct. 25 - The Miami HEAT announced today that they have waived forward Tang Hamilton. Hamilton appeared in one preseason game for the HEAT, playing three minutes against the Houston Rockets on October 10. He was signed by the club as a free agent on October 5, 2004.

MIAMI, September 23 – Kicking off their 17th season, the Miami HEAT announced their television broadcast schedule today for the 2004-05 NBA season. All 82 HEAT regular season games are scheduled to be telecast, including 70 contests on Sunshine Network. Miami will also appear a franchise-record 33 times on national television during the regular season, the most allowed by NBA rules, and once in the preseason on TNT.

MIAMI, August 25 – Dwyane Wade and his 11 teammates on the 2004 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team are the recipients of the NBA Community Assist Award for the month of August. As part of the “Hoops for Troops” pre-Olympic initiative, the members of USA Basketball showed their support for United States military personnel serving around the globe by hosting thousands of service men and women at numerous practices, scrimmages and games during their pre-Olympic training.

MIAMI, June 24 - The Miami HEAT announced today they have acquired the draft rights to Albert Miralles, the 39th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for the draft rights of Pape Sow (47th pick in this year's draft) and the HEAT's 2005 second round pick.
