Grizzlies finalize 2012-13 Training Camp roster

Team signs Ronald Murray and Kyle Weaver to extend roster to 20.

MEMPHIS, October 1, 2012 – The Memphis Grizzlies signed free agent guards Ronald Murray and Kyle Weaver, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced.

An eight-year NBA veteran (2002-10), Murray (6-4, 200) holds career averages of 9.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists on .414 shooting in 22.7 minutes in 487 games (92 starts) with the Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats and Chicago Bulls.  The Shaw product was drafted by Milwaukee in the second round (41st overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft.

Most recently, the 33-year-old averaged 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists on .667 shooting in 23.3 minutes in three games for the 2011-12 NBA Development League Champion Austin Toros.  Nicknamed “Flip,” the Philadelphia native also has played professionally in Turkey for Anadolu Efes Istanbul during the 2010-11 season.

A three-year NBA veteran (2008-11), Weaver (6-6, 201) owns NBA career averages of 5.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists on .441 shooting in 18.9 minutes in 73 games (19 starts) with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz.  Following a four-year collegiate career at Washington State, Weaver was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats in the second round (38th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft and traded to Oklahoma City on draft night.

The 26-year-old comes to Memphis after playing for ALBA Berlin last season, recording 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists on .508 shooting in 37 games in the German League and averaging 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 11 games during the EuroCup.

A native of Janesville, Wisc., Weaver owns NBA Development League career averages of 15.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists on .434 shooting in 36.7 minutes in 37 games (31 starts) for the Tulsa 66ers, Iowa Energy and Austin Toros.  He also has competed professionally in Belgium, guiding TEC Spirou Charleroi to the 2011 Belgian League Championship.
