The Utah Jazz continue to lose ground in the Western Conference playoff race while the Philadelphia 76ers finally found a way to stop losing on the road.

The fading Jazz will try to avoid a season-high fifth straight defeat and extend a seven-game home win streak over the 76ers on Monday night.

Utah (34-36) has dropped into a tie for ninth place in the West, two games behind the Lakers for the conference's final playoff spot. It's been over a month of bad basketball from the Jazz, who fell for the 12th time in 15 games with Sunday's 113-108 loss at Dallas.

"We can't get the games back that we lost," coach Tyrone Corbin said. "We need to learn lessons from it. But we have to find a way to get better."

Sunday's defeat was the ninth straight on the road for Utah, and Philadelphia (27-42) can relate. The 76ers finally ended a road skid that reached 15 with a 117-103 victory over Sacramento on Sunday.

Philadelphia was enduring its longest road slide since a franchise-worst 20 straight such defeats in 1987-88. Now it will look to close a four-game trip with momentum after coming close to ending the losing streak in Thursday's 101-100 defeat in Denver.

"It finally feels good to win on the road," coach Doug Collins said. "I'm so happy for our guys, especially the way they've bounced back after that tough, tough loss in Denver."

The 76ers have lost seven straight in Salt Lake City and 21 of their last 23 there.

Utah, however, returns home after an 0-3 trip that included the loss to the Mavericks. Dallas shot 54.3 percent - the worst mark yielded by the Jazz since the All-Star break.

"I think we're just losing focus," said reserve Enes Kanter, who scored a team-high 17 points. "We'll just have to work on it and stick together."

Jrue Holiday was brilliant Sunday for Philadelphia with 21 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Dorrell Wright hit six 3-pointers and scored 21 points and Lavoy Allen added a career-high 20 points.

"Our ace of spades were Dorrell and Lavoy and it was just a great, great win for us," Collins said.

Allen's contribution was inexplicable as he totaled 15 points on 7-of-19 shooting over a six-game stretch before Collins didn't play him against the Nuggets. The second-year pro made 9 of 13 shots Sunday to match his second-highest total of the season.

"I didn't play in the Denver game so I had to make up for the shot attempts I didn't get that game so I got some shots up and I was hitting," Allen said.

Philadelphia won 99-93 at home over Utah on Nov. 16. Holiday had 26 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Paul Millsap led the Jazz with 22 points.

Utah plays eight of its final 12 games at home, where it has dropped four of its last six to Eastern Conference opponents.

"We're going to lay everything out there for 12 games and see what happens," Corbin said.

Foye, Hayward lift slumping Jazz over 76ers 107-91

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) The Utah Jazz's losing streak is over, and their playoff hopes are very much alive.

The Jazz jumped out to a big early lead and didn't let up, blowing out the Philadelphia 76ers 107-91 on Monday night to halt a four-game skid.

"We talked about it before the game, talked about it at halftime as well," said Jazz swingman Gordon Hayward, who had 15 points thanks to 3-of-3 shooting beyond the arc. "Don't give them any breathing room, no reason to hope."

Instead, the Jazz (35-36) still harbor their own hopes. Their win, coupled with a Lakers loss at Golden State, moved Utah within a game of the eighth-place Lakers (36-35) in the Western Conference.

"We can definitely do it," Hayward said. "We've beaten some of the best teams in the league. I know we can do it. It's just a matter of us going out there, playing as a team, helping each other defensively and making a lot of plays."

Hayward got the Jazz rolling with a pair of 3-pointers that helped stake Utah to a 10-0 lead. Randy Foye added three more 3s in the half as Utah made 6 of 10 from beyond the arc before the break en route to a 58-42 lead.

"That opens it up from the perimeter so they have to respect you a little bit more," said Hayward, only recently reinserted into the starting lineup to give Utah more playmakers. "They can't double-team our big guys down low."

Overall, it led to a balanced effort offensively as seven Jazz players scored in double figures.

The 16-point loss, meanwhile, was a disappointing end to a four-game western road trip for the Sixers, who on Sunday had ended a 15-game road losing streak with a victory in Sacramento.

"We got it handed to us tonight," Spencer Hawes said. "Not much else to say. I think the start was indicative of the level of intensity they played with versus how we did."

After falling behind so far early, Philadelphia fought back within 27-23 at the end of the first quarter on a hook shot by Hawes.

Utah opened the second quarter on a 15-6 run to bump its lead to 42-29 with 7:21 left in the half. Philadelphia was within five with 3:19 remaining in the half after a layup by Lavoy Allen before Utah's 13-0 run. The Jazz surge included 3-pointers from Foye and Mo Williams and a diving play out of bounds by Williams, who was on his back when he pushed the ball ahead to Hayward at midcourt for an easy dunk.

Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said six straight turnovers in that span were costly.

"We gave them 24 points off turnovers," lamented Collins, who also was bugged by the fact Philadelphia had just nine assists one night after finishing with 31 in the win over the Kings.

Foye led Utah with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Derrick Favors added 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Jazz.

"It's good to end the (losing) streak, good to get a win at home," Hayward said. "But it's just one of many we are looking to get here in the near future. We can't really celebrate this one too much."

The Jazz (35-36) had dropped 12 of their previous 15 overall to fall behind the Lakers. Utah plays seven of its final 11 games at home, where the Jazz are 25-9.

Foye said the Jazz gained confidence last week in San Antonio, even though they eventually lost in overtime.

"That was the best game we played defensively," Foye said. "We were in guys, not giving an ounce back. We said you have to run through us. We gave them a fight. We lost the game, but we felt good about it."

He said the defensive effort in that game re-appeared in Monday's first half, where Utah held the Sixers to 38 percent shooting, turned eight Philadelphia turnovers into 16 points and held a 14-3 edge on the fast-break points.

Also credit seven Jazz blocks for the big early lead, and Hayward's hot hand.

"I think it's big for us," Foye said of having Hayward start. "I've been out there the whole year, not by myself, but Mo (Williams) has (been hurt) and G has been playing with the second unit. With those guys out there, everyone's a threat and it's pick your poison for opponents."

Dorell Wright scored 19 to lead the Sixers (27-43). Arnett Moultrie added 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

"Our attitude is no matter who we face, we've just got to take the fight to them, not wait for them to swing the first punch," Foye said. "We usually wait for somebody to hit us with the hook before we fight back. We set the tone from the beginning."

NOTES: The Sixers had just three assists in the first half and scored just 19 points in the second quarter. ... Collins only half-jokingly before the game said the future of the NBA is headed toward 30 percent of possessions being 3-point shots. "The game has changed. ... Teams are too good defensively. ... It almost has to be where your 4-man has to be able to shoot the corner 3," he said. The Jazz are on pace to shatter the franchise mark for made 3-pointers in a season ... Monday marked the 40th anniversary of the Sixers' 9-73 season in which Roy Rubin (4-47) and Kevin Loughery (5-26) split the coaching chores.

THE FACTS: The Utah Jazz fell behind in the Western Conference playoff race during a lousy stretch of basketball, but their effort on Monday night showed that there is still some fight left in them.

Seven players scored in double figures as the Jazz whipped the Philadelphia 76ers 107-91, earning a wire-to-wire victory. Randy Foye led the way with 17 points and Gordon Hayward added 15 points. Derrick Favors came off the bench to record a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Utah, which trails the Los Angeles Lakers by 1 1/2 games for the Western Conference's eighth seed, plays seven of its last 11 games at home. The Jazz had lost four straight and 12 of their last 15 entering Monday's game.

Philadelphia played like a tired team as it closed out a four-game road trip against Western Conference opponents. Dorell Wright had 19 points and rookie Arnett Moultrie scored a career-high 14 points.

QUOTABLE: "We're still in the fight. We understand where we are. This group of guys has been resilient all year long. I don't expect anything other than them to continue to fight as long as we have fight in us and we're in the fight. It started tonight and it's going to be a game on Wednesday night and we'll go from there."

THE STAT: Utah's offense featured much more rhythm, flow and unselfishness than Philadelphia's. That was evidenced by the assist differential between the two teams. The Jazz dished 22 assists, compared to just nine for the 76ers. Utah's assist total was just below its average of 22.4, but Philadelphia was way off its game. The 76ers entered the game tied for eighth in the league with 23 assists per game, and they had 31 assists against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.

TURNING POINT: The Jazz put together three double-digit scoring runs in the first half, and the last one was a game-clincher. A 13-0 run that included Mo Williams diving for a loose ball and making a down-court assist to Hayward from his back put Utah ahead 58-40 just before halftime. Foye started the spurt with a 3-pointer and Williams had seven points as the Jazz took control. Utah also scored the game's first 10 points and had an 11-0 run that gave it a 42-29 lead early in the second quarter.

HOT: Foye has broken out a shooting slump. During a nine-game span earlier this month, he shot 15-for-61. With his 6-for-10 effort against Philadelphia, Foye is 13-for-23 in his last three games. Foye has also improved to 8-for-15 from 3-point range in his last three after shooting 11-for-37 in his previous nine. ... Favors didn't shoot a great percentage, but he altered a lot of shots in the paint and blocked three of them. ... All five of Utah's starters shot at least 50 percent. Hayward led the way at 6-for-9 shooting. ... Spencer Hawes started fast for Philadelphia. He had 12 of his 14 points and seven of his eight rebounds in the first half.

NOT: After scoring a career-high 20 points against Sacramento on Sunday night, Philadelphia's Lavoy Allen came crashing back to earth. Allen threw up an airball and clanged other attempts off the rim en route to a 3-for-14 night with six points. ... Wright had four assists, and no other 76er had more than one assist. ... Jrue Holiday, the only player in the league averaging at least 18 points and eight assists, shot 2-for-8 and was one of five 76ers who had just one assist.

GOOD MOVE: Corbin takes a lot of heat and criticism from local fans because of his starting lineups and player rotations. None of his naysayers, however, could say anything bad about his player management against Philadelphia. He had the right answers when the 76ers made runs in the first half. He also made sure to keep his players fresh as the Jazz were playing the third game of a stretch of six games in nine days. Only Hayward played more than 30 minutes and he was the only starter to play more than a minute in the fourth quarter.

BAD MOVE: Philadelphia's starting five of Hawes, Holiday, Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner and Damien Wilkins did not play as a unit after the 76ers broke a 15-game road losing streak on Sunday night. Coach Doug Collins subbed the entire five out at the 7:35 mark in the first quarter after they fell behind 16-6. In the second quarter, when Hawes played the entire period, Wilkins played nine minutes and Holiday played eight, Philadelphia had no assists. Hawes, Holiday and Wilkins were on the court for all of Utah's game-clinching 13-0 run in the second quarter.

NOTABLE: The Jazz have defeated Philadelphia eight straight times and 22 of the last 24 in Utah. ... The 76ers had five straight possessions that ended with a turnover during a three-minute stretch in the second quarter. ... Utah scored 24 points off of Philadelphia turnovers. ... Both teams were playing in the second game of a back-to-back. The 76ers fell to 3-15 in the second games of back-to-backs. ... Wilkins had 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting for Philadelphia. ... Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter and Alec Burks each had 12 points for the Jazz, while Paul Millsap added 11.
