Bobcats Lose Two To Injuries In Frontcourt

Charlotte's frontcourt took a hit on Wednesday, as General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff announced that recent injuries to forward Sean May and center Othella Harrington will sideline the Bobcats big men.

May missed the Bobcats final two games on their recent West Coast trip on January 27 at Golden State and on January 29 at Denver with right knee soreness and recent evaluation revealed no structural damage, but did uncover a bone bruise that has caused him pain.

No timetable has been set for his return. In 32 games this season, May has averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 23.2 minutes.

"When it came down to it, it was just a bone bruise that has been bothering me, and there is really nothing you can do about it," May said in his blog addressed to Bobcats fans on Wednesday. "I do my exercises and the preventative treatments that I go through every day, but the only way a bone bruise can really heal is on its own. You just have to give it time."

Harrington will undergo surgery tomorrow morning at Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital to repair torn cartilage in his left knee and is expected to be out a minimum of 3-6 weeks. In 21 games this season, Harrington is averaging 2.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 8.7 minutes.

“It definitely hurts (to miss this time),” Harrington said. “You always want to play and be a part of the team, but unfortunately you just can’t control injuries.”
