WHAT:LaMarcus Aldridge will pay a visit to Marshall High School for a school assembly at which Providence Health & Services and the Portland Trail Blazers will announce a partnership with the Eddie Barnett, Jr. Foundation that has resulted in the placement of more than 40 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout 10 Portland Public School District high schools.
The project is inspired by and in honor of the foundation’s namesake and founder/CEO Christeen Johnson’s son, Eddie Barnett Jr., who passed away in 2005 when a pre-existing condition caused heart failure during a high school basketball game. Christeen started a foundation with the mission to prevent lives from being lost by fundraising to provide health screenings and AEDs for young athletes.
