After opening the season with some lackadaisical performances, Trail Blazers head coach Nate McMillan decided to shake up the rotation. The decision to move Andre Miller into the starting lineup appears to have made an immediate impact for this team, as Portland (3-3) put together their best performance of the season in the 96-84 win over San Antonio (2-3).

With a ten point lead heading into the fourth quarter, Brandon Roy made sure that the Trail Blazers were coming out of this game with the win. Although San Antonio cut the lead down to three points in the middle of the quarter, Roy put the team on his back and willed it to victory. Roy scored 11 of his game-high 24 points in the final quarter, in which he shot a perfect 3-3 from the field.

"We had some energy tonight,"Roy said of the team. "I think the guys came out and did their best to just push the tempo. We knew they were coming off a back-to-back and wanted to just really attack them."

After battling foul trouble during the first quarter, Greg Oden showed just how dominant of a player he can be. Oden displayed a variety of offensive moves throughout the game, including a confident looking hook shot that he scored with on numerous occasions.

Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at the Rose Garden, the Portland Trail Blazers and Providence Heath & Services hosted Harvest Dinner – the largest dinner of its kind in Portland – for as many as 5,000 homeless and/or critically-low income individuals.

For the 14th consecutive year, Harvest Dinner was executed entirely through volunteer efforts of Trail Blazers staff, players, coaches, community partners, local media members and corporate partners. The Thanksgiving-style meal was made available exclusively to clients of local organizations and agencies that serve homeless and critically low-income individuals and families. Additionally, members of the Trail Blazers volunteer team made some special meal deliveries in partnership with Loaves and Fishes.

“Our organization has been committed to this event for 14 years. It’s an honor to continue this tradition with giving partners like Providence,” Trail Blazers president Larry Miller said. “We look forward to the day when this event is no longer necessary, but as long as there is a need, we feel that it is our responsibility to help make it better for our friends and neighbors in the Portland community.”
